The Divine Gift of Gratitude
I've been thinking a lot about gratitude with Thanksgiving quickly approaching. The other night I read this quote from Elder Bednar that said, "Try offering prayers in which you only give thanks. Ask for nothing and let your soul rejoice. Express gratitude with all of your heart." I immediately realized that I ask for so much in each and every one of my prayers, but often fail to express gratitude for the blessings I receive. I took that opportunity to kneel and say a prayer where I only gave thanks and it made for a special, spiritual experience.
Our loving prophet teaches, "A grateful heart … comes through expressing gratitude to our Heavenly Father for His blessings and to those around us for all that they bring into our lives."
That quote comes from the talk The Divine Gift of Gratitude (found here) and I invite each and every one of you to find time this Thanksgiving holiday to read that talk and let the lessons on gratitude touch and change your life.
"Let us follow Him. Let us emulate His example. Let us obey His words. By so doing, we give to Him the divine gift of gratitude." -President Thomas S. Monson
Gratitude is so, so important and I pray that we may carry the divine gift of gratitude with us throughout this holiday season!
